This is Juan John on Monday (in his "Spicy" pants with chili peppers). On Tuesday, his pants had sherrif badges and said "Major Stud." Today, his pants have hammers and say "Get Hammered." Apparently, he has new ones each year. It makes us laugh each day, so I can't wait to see what he has tomorrow.

new week = new faces
We've got 4 groups with us this week- 2 from Georgia, 2 from South Carolina. Three of these groups are full of folks that have been supporting CPC, and building houses in Piedras, for many years. Our most interesting group this week is a smaller group from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. They were orginally scheduled to build early in the summer, but due to some local violence and the swine flu, were canceled {Note- the groups were canceled, but the houses still need to be built. The staff still traveled to Piedras as planned, so they built like crazy the first 4 weeks (8 folks built 2 houses a week), but are still 6 houses behind schedule. The Mexican staff will continue to build into the fall until they are completed}. These folks love building so much that they decided to reschedule, though they are missing several of their orginals. The ringleader of the group is a guy named John (or Juan John to the folks down here). I've heard stories of Juan John, but have never had the priviledge of meeting him until this past Sunday. Juan John has a heart of gold, one of the biggest supporters CPC has, and is quite the character. He speaks no Spanish, but thinks if he talks louder (in his South Carolina accent), the locals will be able to understand him. He's not tall, dark, and handsome...he's blonde, bronzed, and beautiful (these are his words, not mine). He's all buisness in the front and quite a party in the back and he has the most interesting wardrobe I've seen all summer! He's been building for almost 20 years and has a huge collection of CPC shirts (everyone gets one- same shirt each year, different color) to match is Joe Boxer pants. Without further ado, I present Juan John (with Leslie, another houselady).
