House Dedications

Friday is a fun day in Mexico and today was no different! CPC Houses 615, 616, 617, and 618 were dedicated! Though there is so much more work to be done in this place, 600+ houses is truly amazing! The Mexican home owners, along with the American missionaries, participate in a dedication service on Friday morning. This is a very meaningful, and many times emotional, service celebrating the partnership of all involved. I was able to slip in on the tail end of House #615's Dedication (built by Westminster Presbyterian Church from Greensboro, NC).

At each dedication, a fruit tree is planted. This tree not only symbolizes life, but also will produce food for the family for years to come. After the tree is planted, two gallons of water, one American and one Mexican, are mixed and then used to water the tree. Just as water knows no boundaries, neither does love and friendship across borders.

The group added a little artwork to the back step before they poured the concrete.

For those of you wondering, I made it through Round 2 of the block line! I didn't stay with the guys all day, but did move about 500 blocks. I hate to make the call too early, but so far, so good on the arms (last year after moving blocks I was sore for a week afterwards and had trouble lifting my arms to do simple things like brush my teeth and hair)!

Tomorrow we'll be up early to bid the groups a fond farewell, do some laundry and supply shopping in Texas, then head to the Rio Grande to celebrate the 4th of July. Pictures to come.
