Same old, same old morning routine. Today I skipped the morning run for an extra hour of sleep and it was just what I needed! Thursday breakfast is my favorite meal of the week, without a question. Elida makes the refried beans and David makes the salsa. Add a grilled, fresh flour tortilla and I don't even miss the other food (egg & chorizo tacos, bean tacos, oatmeal, fruit, cereals & juice). They know exactly what I want- tres taquitos de frijoles con muchos frijoles) and the hot salsa for good measure. I not only enjoy this meal for breakfast, but also Thursday lunch & Friday breakfast...and I promise they don't have an adverse effect on me! After breakfast, staff meeting & devotional, we rushed to change (long pants & close-toed shoes on the worksite), load up in Oso, and deliver roof panels- 42 total roof panels to be exact! The first 4 houses went very quickly, then the last two were done one at a time. Usually, we unload all 7, then the groups take them up after we leave. A Georgia group is building two houses on the same street & decided to work together on their roofs. Because they unloaded & took it up on the roof all at one time, it took almost 2 hours to finish. The first lot was very cramped, so they had to lift it over the house.
The second house provided a little more room in the yard, so they took the panels up from the side.
This church also had a group here last week & they built a house a few doors down (so that's 1 church, 3 groups & 3 houses on one short street). Last week's new homeowners were out watching. Such a sweet family!
And, while we were waiting, we even took some pictures...and more surprising, I was in one (dirty hair, goofy smile & all!). Those are my friends Jose & Armando. Jose was modeling a safety vest that we found in the truck.
After roof panel delivery was complete, I took a short nap at the hotel, then we went over to Texas to run errands & eat lunch. We got back just before 5:00 & it was time to get ready for dinner. Circle was at 8:00- taco chili soup over rice, salad, bollilos & Carolina Suprise (chocolate chip cookies dipped in milk, then layered in a dish with cool whip...pretty delightful!). Clean-up is complete, coffee is ready for tomorrow morning, now it's time for a shower & bed. Buenos Noches!
